US, Saudi Arabia call for preventing Iran's interference

(MENAFN) The United States and Saudi Arabia urged to prevent Iran's interference in the region and preventing Tehran from acquiring nuclear weapons.

"President Biden strongly affirmed the United States’ continued commitment to supporting Saudi Arabia’s security and territorial defense," according to a joint declaration after Biden's conference with Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz and crown prince Mohammed bin Salman.

The declaration avowed US promise to let Riyadh "obtain necessary capabilities to defend its people and territory against external threats."

In line with the declaration, the two nations underlined "the importance of preventing Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon."

At some events, Iran vehemently refused the charges of interference in the dealings of the region's nations.

Biden is now heading to Saudi Arabia at the last stop of his first local journey since he took post in 2021. His trip comprised Israel and the West Bank.
