Germany deals with serious energy catastrophe, has no quick solutions

(MENAFN) Germany is dealing with a serious energy catastrophe and has no fast answers for it after climbing energy rates as an outcome of the Russian attack on Ukraine.

Economy Minister Robert Habeck called the present energy catastrophe in his nation "serious" as Berlin is getting ready for new procedures to respond to a cut in Russian gas provision by stimulating coal plants and providing backing to secure gas for the winter.

The minister German television network ZDF stated that "Security of supply is currently guaranteed, but the situation is serious."

He underlined that reviving coal is "bitter" but also mentioned that "it's simply necessary for this situation to reduce gas consumption."

Habeck also stated "We must and we will do everything we can to store as much gas as possible in the summer and fall."
