Poland suspends free gasoline deliveries to Ukraine

(MENAFN) Warsaw has halted free gasoline deliveries to Ukraine, according to the Polish Minister of climate and environment, who spoke to the BiznesAlert website on Monday, May 30th.

Anna Moskwa added that “at the beginning of the war and after the bombing of the refinery, we sent fuel free of charge. Currently, these are commercial supplies from Orlen [Polish oil refiner], requiring a large logistic commitment.”

The minister stated that the Polish market stays the priority, and that Ukrainian energy firms are dealing with the issue. “Usually these deliveries are by pipelines, so we had to put in place new supply channels. We implement them on an ongoing basis, maintaining the priority of supplying the Polish market,” Mokwa stated, adding: “Our supplies are a response to the crisis, but this sector is well organized, so there is a market potential there.”

Furthermore, gasoline shortages have been reported in Ukraine due to war-damaged infrastructure and disruptions in the oil refining business. Drivers have been forced to wait for hours at petrol stations, according to reports. The government stopped state control of vehicle fuel prices last week, citing a rising lack of gasoline and diesel.
