Hajj Flights To Start From June 5, Not May 31

Dhaka: The first Hajj flight from Bangladesh, that was scheduled for May 31, has been rescheduled for June 5, announced the Ministry of Religious Affairs.

The first Hajj flight from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport has been rescheduled to ensure that pilgrims' pre-arrival immigration processes in the capital are completed properly.

'The Saudi Arabian authority has informed Bangladesh that its 40-member Road to Makkah Initiative team – equipped with pre-arrival immigration devices – will be unable to arrive before June 2. As installing the devices at the airport will take a few days, the ministry has decided to begin Hajj flights on June 5,' said State Minister for Religious Affairs, Faridul Haque Khan.

The ministry has also asked the relevant authorities of the country to take necessary measures for the commencement of flights on the rescheduled date.
