(MENAFN- UkrinForm) A total of 234 children have been killed and over 433 injured in Ukraine since the Russian invasion started.
The relevant statement was made by the Ukrainian Prosecutor General's Office on Telegram , an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“As of May 24, 2022, over 667 children in Ukraine were affected by the Russian armed aggression. According to the data from juvenile prosecutors, 234 children were killed and over 433 injured,” the report states.
These data are not final, as they are being investigated within the areas of hostilities, temporarily occupied and liberated areas.
Currently, most casualties were recorded in Donetsk Region (146), Kyiv Region (116), Kharkiv Region (103), Chernihiv Region (68), Luhansk Region (50), Kherson Region (49), Mykolaiv Region (45), Zaporizhzhia Region (28), Sumy Region (17), the city of Kyiv (16) and Zhytomyr Region (15).
On May 22, 2022, a 12-year old girl, who was seriously injured in Russia's shelling on May 7, 2022, died at hospital.
On May 20, 2022, a 16-year-old boy received serious bodily injuries in Russia's artillery strikes on the village of Chkalovske, Kharkiv Region, and later died.
On April 8, 2022, two boys, 11 and 13, were injured in Russia's shelling of Lysychansk, Luhansk Region.
A total of 1,848 educational institutions were damaged across Ukraine as a result of Russia's daily air and artillery strikes, and 173 of them were destroyed completely.
