Hamas Sounds Alarm About Regional Escalation Over Aqsa Violations
(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) GAZA, May 4 (KUNA) -- The Palestinian Hamas movement cautioned Wednesday that the entire region would slide into further tensions, should Israeli settlers break into Al-Aqsa Mosque tomorrow (Thursday).
In a press statement, the group's spokesman Hazem Qasem warned of the bare consequences of a possible storming by Israeli settlers of the holy mosque as 'playing with fire'.
He called on all Palestinian people to flow en masse to Al-Aqsa Mosque in order to defend the main Muslim sanctuary in Jerusalem, emphasizing that all Israeli attempts to divide the mosque and Judaize Islamic sanctuaries would not work out.
Meanwhile, Palestinian groups and movements, in separate statements, alarmed that the Israeli occupying authorities would be held accountable for any escalation due to Jewish extremists' violations at Al-Aqsa Mosque. (end)
