Qatar participates in WHO Executive Board meetings

Doha - The State of Qatar is taking part in the 150th session of the Executive Board of the World health Organization (WHO), which kicked off Monday and will continue for six days via videoconference.
The delegation of the State of Qatar to the meetings is headed by Minister of Public Health HE Dr. Hanan Mohammed Al Kuwari.
The meetings will discuss a number of important topics, including the outcome of the second special session of the World Health Assembly in order to consider the development of a convention, agreement or other international instrument for the organization on pandemic preparedness and response. HE Dr. Hanan Mohammed Al Kuwari had participated in the work of the special session as Vice-President of the World Health Assembly.

The meetings of the WHO Executive Board will also discuss a number of topics related to four main goals - one billion more people benefitting from universal health coverage; one billion more people be better protected from health emergencies; one billion more people are enjoying better health and well-being, and more effective and efficient WHO providing better support to countries.
The Executive Board will discuss other important topics including the political declaration of the third high-level meeting of the General Assembly on the prevention and control of noncommunicable diseases; the global health sector strategies on, respectively, HIV, viral hepatitis and sexually transmitted infections; road map for neglected tropical diseases 20212030; Immunization Agenda 2030; infection prevention and control; global road map on defeating meningitis by 2030; strengthening WHO preparedness for and response to health emergencies; standing Committee on Pandemic and Emergency Preparedness and Response; influenza preparedness; Global Health for Peace Initiative; and others
