Turkey’s Central Bank to keep interest rates at same value of 14 percent

(MENAFN) Based on a panel of economists questioned in a survey by Anadolu Agency on Friday, the Turkish Central Bank is predicted to keep interest rates at the same value of 14 percent.

By the upcoming Thursday, the bank is going to hold its first Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) gathering in 2022 to declare its most recent announcement on interest rates.

A group of 23 economists assessed by Anadolu Agency forecasted the median year-end interest rate to stand at 12 percent. Based on its timetable, the bank is going to hold 12 MPC meetings in 2022.

During its last meeting on Dec. 16, the Central Bank slashed its standard one-week repo rate by 100 basis points from 15 percent to 14 percent in alignment with market predictions, meaning that since September 2021 the authority has decreased the key rate by 500 basis points.
