Frank Vandenbroucke, Belgian Health Minister stated while talking at a news conference, that an traveler who isn’t vaccinated had carried the new B.1.1.529 strain, came into Belgium, and tested positive on Monday.
The official declared in a public caution, "caution is necessary, but don't panic," and based on the Belgian public broadcaster RTBF, the traveler was a young female who traveled to Egypt and made a transit stop via Turkey.
She declared that she did not interact with anyone from the southern African area and began to develop symptoms 11 days following her arrival in Egypt. The new deeply altered variant, which vaccines might not prevent it, was discovered in South Africa.
