QNL announces winners of first 'Wiki Loves Monuments Qatar 2021' competition


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Doha: Qatar National Library (QNL) announced the winners of the 'Wiki Loves Monuments Qatar 2021' competition that concluded recently. In collaboration with Qatar Museums and the Qatar Photographic Society, the Library invited photographers to submit pictures of 11 monuments listed in Wikipedia.

More than 50 participants joined the local competition, with a total of 384 images submitted. The 10 winning images submitted by Manjri Saxena, Abd Alnasser Aljerodi, Maldabbas, Raytohgraphy, Imremzan and Suneer Mohamed, were selected based on their creativity, originality, quality, focus-exposure and composition.

Each participant was allowed to upload up to 10 images. 

The local winners have been nominated for the international competition, which will announce the winners in January 2022. The submitted photographs can be now used by anyone to illustrate and enrich the Wikipedia entries describing Qatar's heritage and promoting it. 

“Wiki Loves Monuments” is an annual photo competition celebrating built cultural heritage and promoting it through openly licensed content. It is organized by volunteers from the Wikipedia community around the world, and the top ten photographs from each country are selected for an international final.
