MoPH advises people to avoid large gatherings and crowded places

(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Doha: Ministry of Public health has reminded the public the importance of staying safe as phase 4 of lifting COVID-19 restrictions is set to be implemented from tomorrow.

It has urged people to avoid large gatherings and to meet others virtually at possible occasions.

MoPH said in a twitter message:“As Qatar moves to phase 4 of the lifting of COVID-19 restrictions it's important to continue to protect yourself, your loved ones and the community against possible risk of infection.”

The Ministry also advised people to avoid large gatherings and crowded places.

“Meet with people virtually if possible, using digital communication tools and platforms,” the Ministry said.

Hold gatherings and events outdoors rather than indoors when possible. If indoors, ensure adequate ventilation and shorten the duration and the size of the event. Use culturally appropriate greetings that avoid physical contact, such as waving, nodding, or placing the hand over the heart,” it added.

The Ministry listed a number of other points to ensure safety against COVID-19 including, practicing physical distancing, following the advice on the appropriate use of masks issued by the Ministry, cover mouth and nose and bent elbow or use a tissue when coughing or sneezing, avoid touching  eyes, nose and mouth, regulary and thoroughly wash hands with soap and water or clean them with an alcohol-based hand rub.

“Stay home and call 16000 if you feel unwell or have COVID-19 like symptoms,” said the Ministry.

“Get vaccinated and continue observing precautionary measures,” it added.

On Wednesday, the cabinet said that starting from October 3, mask regulations would no longer apply to outdoor activities, except during organised public events, markets and exhibitions. However, it added that masks must still be worn at mosques, schools, hospitals and university premises, as well as at all public indoor areas.

Additionally, markets and malls can also operate at full capacity, with children allowed to enter such facilities while abiding by the limit on  maximum number of customers allowed in each store.

Food courts are allowed to operate at a 50-percent capacity and all prayer areas and fitting rooms at malls can reopen.

The gradual easing of restrictions comes as Qatar is witnessing a drop in daily infection cases.

Meanwhile, MoPH reported 92 new cases of COVID-19 yesterday and among them 30 were travellers returning from abroad. Also 93 people recovered from the virus bringing the total number of people recovered in Qatar to 234,855.

A total of 7,240 doses of vaccines were administered during   24 hours and 81.9% of the total population received a full vaccination with two doses of the vaccine.
