Afghanistan: 69 Taliban rebels die in Badghis province
(MENAFN) On Thursday, Jul. 8 Afghanistan’s Defense Ministry affirmed that more than 69 Taliban rebels were confirmed dead and another 23 were injured after the Afghan security forces cleared out rebels from Qala-e-Naw city, capital of western Badghis province.
The ministry stated in a report: "the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF), including national army' commandos, supported by Afghan Air Force targeted militants' aggregation in multiple locations in Qala-e-Naw on Wednesday."
Heavily-armed Taliban rebels attacked and briefly seized the city on Wednesday before the Afghan security forces conducted a counter-offensive.
The report further said that the ANDSF also confiscated a number of militants' arms and bullets.
