Richard Gunner is a wildlife biologist, currently undertaking his PhD at Swansea University, Wales.
His research focusses on using motion sensitive tags (containing e.g., accelerometers and magnetometers) to provide precise data on body movements which characterise behaviour. His PhD concentrates on exploring animal body angles, particularly about the yaw axis, with a particular emphasis on utilising the dead-reckoning technique to reconstruct fine-scale movement paths, which can elucidate many fundamental behavioural and ecological issues related to space-use.
Richard has worked on a range of terrestrial, aquatic and aerial vertebrate taxa, including turtles, cormorants, penguins, tropic birds, beavers and lions.
