Qatar''s infrastructure, efficient governance show leadership''s vision


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Doha: Professionals in Qatar have applauded Qatar’s economic growth and the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior H E Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani’s goal under the leadership of Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to ensure efficient infrastructure and inclusive citizens participation in government.

Director of Lulu Group International, Dr. Mohamed Althaf has said that the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior H E Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani has delivered a great message to the residents of Qatar and the world reassuring a smooth business environment in the country.

Dr. Althaf was commenting on the meeting of H E the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior with Editors-in-Chief of Qatari newspapers. ''The Prime Minister has reiterated Qatar’s commitment to the public health,” said Dr. Althaf.

He said that Prime Minister has declared that the preparation for FIFA World Cup 2022 is well on schedule and all the major stadiums and infrastructure works are completed on time, a fact known to the residents of Qatar is now officially declared to the world.  

''Broadly speaking, the Prime Minister has laid out Qatar’s commitment to popular participation in governance, welfare of the guest workers and stability of the economy. It is a transparent communication on the state of the nation,” said Dr. Althaf.

At a time, he said, the world economies are grappling with the post-pandemic situation, Qatar is gradually moving forward leaving the crisis behind. ''Of all the successful stimulus packages Qatar Government has offered, the greatest stimulus has been the universal vaccination policy,” said Dr. Althaf. 

He said that Qatar is among the few countries that has sourced the top-quality vaccine and succeeded in vaccinating majority of the population. ''The success of National COVID-19 Vaccination Campaign has made the country safer and ready to reopen,” said Dr. Althaf.

Praising the meeting of Prime Minister and Minister of Interior H E Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani with the Editors-in-Chief of Qatar’s newspapers, lawyer Issa Al Sulaiti has said that the Prime Minister spoke about many important things whether related to upcoming Shura Council, Retirement Law and fighting corruption among others.

''It is clear that the government is keen on fighting corruption and no one is above the law. The Prime Minister also highlighted the importance of upcoming Shura Council,” he said.

With regard to the Shura Council, Al Sulaiti noted that the Prime Minister stressed the importance of the elections being transparent and fair, and that the State will not support any specific person against another and there will be impartial and fair criteria for all candidates.

''The upcoming Shura election will help the government in its work and in protecting public money, and will increase the citizens’ participation in government work,” he said.

Regarding government efforts to fight corruption, Al Sulaiti also commented: ''The government has approved many laws in the context of combating corruption and promoting integrity and transparency as the Prime Minister has said.”

About other topics that the Prime Minister talked about, the lawyer Al Sulaiti noted other topics include retirement law and the H H the Amir’s direction to raise the minimum retirement pension to QR15000.

''Despite the difficult circumstances the world is witnessing due to the coronavirus pandemic, the government is interested in its citizens and issues legislation in their favor,” he said.

Regarding the 2022 World Cup, Al Sulaiti said there is a clear plan, and everything is near completion. ''Most of the stadiums are ready and in order to protect residents Qatar will provide a large number of vaccine doses for the non-vaccinated fans.” 

Prominent Pakistani community leader and Director of The Next Generation School, Riyaz Bakali, said Qatar has become the first country in the region and a role model that defines and implements key reforms to strengthen wellbeing and right of its workforce, providing them further rights and enforcing the laws to protect those rights.

''Qatar implemented reforms that act as a catalyst to naturally attract the skilled and semi-skilled workforce from around the world to add to the further development and growth of the country. Prime Minister and Minister of Interior HE Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani has once again said that these reforms will take further advancement.”

He termed Qatar’s health care system, including health care infrastructure and health care professionals the best meeting international standards. ''Strategic moves to fight against COVID 19 including mass vaccination program, opting for best vaccines available such as Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna reflect Qatar’s health infrastructure readiness. The announcement by H E the Prime Minister to provide one million COVID-19 vaccines for fans attending 2022 FIFA World Cup is an assurance for the fans to be safe and secure for their game for the life.”

''The readiness of stadiums, roads and highways connecting them as well as other infrastructure projects are the result of strategic planning. As discussed by H E the Prime Minister, work is underway on remaining projects at very excellent pace.”

He said that continuous reforms and bringing the education infrastructure to world-class level as mentioned by the Prime Minister are remarkable.

Secretary of Engineers Australia Qatar Chapter (EAQC) Asif Rahmani has said that Prime Minister and Minister of Interior H E Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani has retreated the commitment of Qatar to provide decent life to expatriate workers.

Commenting on the interaction of Prime Minister with Editors-in-Chief of local newspaper, Rahmani said that the reforms made by Qatar in labor laws helped greatly in protecting workers and safeguarding their rights.   

''One of the major announcements made by the Prime Minister is Qatar government’s initiative to provide one million vaccines to the fans of 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar,” said Rahmani.

He said that the initiative will ensure the health of fans, participants and those people in Qatar. 

''Such steps reassert Qatar’s position amongst front ranking nations around the globe and leader of human development causes in the region,” said Rahmani.
