Rise witnessed in operating U.S. drilling rigs this week


(MENAFN) On Friday, jun. 18 the weekly figures issued by Houston-based oilfield services firms Baker Hughes showed that number of operating drilling rigs in the United States soared nine to 470 rigs in the current week, a rise by 204 annually.

These operating drilling rigs comprised 373 oil rigs functioning in the U.S. oil fields, a climb by eight from the prior week; 97 gas drilling rigs, a rise by one from the prior week. There were no miscellaneous rigs.

The 470 rigs comprised 456 land drilling rigs, an increase by nine from the prior week. There were one inland water rigs and 13 offshore drilling rigs, both the same as the past week.

Amongst them, 425 are horizontal drilling rigs, 20 are vertical drilling rigs and 25 are directional drilling rigs.
