Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar (CMU-Q), a Qatar Foundation partner university, welcomed the Class of 2025 with Marhaba Tartans, a day of online sessions to introduce new students to the university.
The students in the admitted class come from 90 high schools in 43 countries, CMU-Q has said in a statement.
Michael Trick, dean of CMU-Q, welcomed the new students saying: 'I want to commend each and every member of the Class of 2025. This was our most competitive year for applications in CMU-Q history. Each of you has worked hard, shown us that you are curious, driven and creative, and earned a spot in this new class. Congratulations!
Applications to CMU-Q rose by 30% in 2021, the statement noted. Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar offers four undergraduate programmes in biological sciences, business administration, computer science and information systems.
Trick reassured the admitted students that they were chosen for their whole application, and not just their grades: 'While we know you are very strong academically, we chose you because of your enthusiasm, thoughtfulness and creativity.
In addition to their coursework, CMU-Q students have many opportunities to build their own student experience. Over their four years at the university, students can join clubs to cultivate special interests like sports or culture, pursue research or internship opportunities, or participate in a wide variety of community-building activities.
When the Class of 2021 completes their studies in May, CMU-Q's graduate network will grow to more than 1,000 alumni.
