India- Ranveer Singh roped in to lead Shankar's 'Anniyan' Hindi remake
(MENAFN- NewsBytes) Ranveer Singh has been confirmed to step into Vikram's shoes for the Bollywood version of Tamil blockbuster, Anniyan.
While rumors about the remake and casting have been abound since last month, its director S. Shankar finally made it official today.
The 2005 psychological thriller (Tamil) was rechristened Aparichit for its Hindi dubbed version that got released the following year.
However, it failed to click.
Singh also shared the news, calling Shankar the "pioneering visionary of Indian cinema" and "maverick master craftsman."
Jayantilal Gada (Pen Studios) will be the producer.

Giving an insight into the timeline, sources had revealed both were touted to finish their ongoing schedules before starting this project.
While the Simmba star has Cirkus and a Karan Johar movie currently in production, Advani is filming Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2.
"He's an exception to the norm, a true disruptor. I had always hoped and dreamed that I'd get a chance to collaborate with him," he said.
Meanwhile, a "thrilled" Shankar called Singh "mercurial" and a "one-in-a-generation actor."
The principal photography of the venture will commence in mid-2022.

Here, the goal is achieved through a protagonist who suffers from multiple personality disorder.
The movie went on to bag eight Filmfare Awards and six state film awards, alongside a National Film Award.
