Yohannes is a PhD candidate at the Faculty of Law, Monash University in Australia. Prior to joining Monash Law, he was a lecturer in law at School of Law, Bahir Dar University where he was teaching and researching on media law and human rights.
His PhD project looks at internet freeedom under the African setting. Also his scholarship addresses broader issues in freedom of expression on the Internet, and privacy in Africa. Besides, he is passionate in researching about civil rights, freedom of expression, international human rights law, international humanitarian law, and public international law.
