14th Dubai International Food Safety Conference Commences Online


(MENAFN- Dubai PR Network) Dubai, 29 November 2020:  Dubai Municipality on Sunday launched the 14th Dubai International Food Safety Conference virtually under the slogan 'Building resilient and sustainable food systems' which is  being held on 29th and 30th November 2020. 

The Municipality has enriched the conference's agenda with a variety of seminars and discussion sessions, which highlight the most prominent solutions to food security challenges, as the Municipality is keen to ensure the achievement of the desired goals of the activities of this important global conference. 

The conference seminars, which is being participated by a group of prominent international speakers, will deal with a range of the most prominent topics in the field of food safety, food security, food sustainability, nutrition and the use of modern technology to enhance of all of these.  

The conference showcases best practices and experiences from several countries including US, Canada, Thailand and Saudi Arabia. One of the highlights of the event is relevant to the current situation - building resilience during the pandemic, bringing experiences from Arab and regional countries as well as stories from other parts of the world in dealing with food security challenges during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Her Excellency Mariam bint Mohammed Saeed Hareb Al Muheiri, Minister of Food Security in the UAE inaugurated the conference. The first day of the conference discussed food security challenges as well as the role of sustainable diets that contribute to promoting human and planetary health, harnessing technical and technological development in the field of food security, and the most prominent solutions and initiatives that have been applied to overcome food wastage. 

Day two of the conference will feature prominent speakers from the Codex Alimentarius commission, United States Food and Drug Administration and Saudi Food and Agriculture organization. In addition to that numerous scientists will present their research work at the event.

The seminars shed light on the exceptional efforts of the UAE in the field of nutrition, the safety evaluation of recycled plastic materials and articles intended to come in contact with food, the safety assessment of food additives, in addition to discussing the importance of forecasting and studying natural factors to reduce their impact on food security, such as climate change, epidemics, floods and rain rate, as well as harnessing the use of advanced technologies in agricultural production with the aim of increasing and improving the quality of production, developing post-harvest mechanisms to reduce waste, and applying best practices in transport and storage operations.
