Jordan records 56 COVID-19 deaths, 3,826 cases
(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, Nov 21 (Petra) The Ministry of Health said Saturday that 56 new deaths and 3,826 cases of coronavirus were recorded across the Kingdom, bringing the death toll from the pandemic to 2,172, and the total number of infections to 178,161.
The cases were: 1,543 in the capital Amman, 361 in Karak, 328 in Balqa, 297 in Ajloun, 295 in Irbid, 213 in Mafraq, 213 in Ma'an, 189 in Aqaba, 139 in Zarqa, 129 in Tafileh, 101 in Madaba and 18 in Jerash, according to the media brief by the Prime Ministry and the Health Ministry.
It said that the number of active COVID-19 cases currently reached 67,636, while 210 were admitted to hospitals and 130 patients were discharged after their recovery.
According to the brief, a total of 2,133 cases are currently receiving treatment in hospitals, including 427 in intensive care.
It also said that 4,519 people infected with the virus, who were in self-quarntine at home or in isolation in hospitals, have recovered, bringing the total number of recoveries to 108,353.
The ministry also said that 18,518 swab tests were taken today, bringing the total number of tests conducted since the start of the pandemic to 2,334,276, adding that the positivity rate for today reached about 20.66 percent.
It urged adherence to defense orders and following preventive measures, especially wearing masks, avoiding gatherings of more than 20 people, using the "Aman" and "Your Health" apps, in addition to following up on an awareness campaign launched by the ministry for prevention from infection.
