Arab League: Mideast crisis requires concerted action

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) CAIRO, Oct 13 (KUNA) -- The Arab League said the Palestinian crisis is at a "critical juncture," adding "concerted action" was needed at the Arab and global levels to preserve the foundations of a peaceful settlement to the Middle East issue.
The 22-member state regional bloc went on to reiterate its conviction that any solution must be based on a two-state solution, in accordance with legitimate international law and United Nations Security Council resolutions.
This came as Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Abulgheit met with Jordan's Foreign Minister Ayman Al-Safadi on Tuesday, whereby both discussed Palestinian affairs, according to an Arab League statement.
Abulgheit underlined that establishing Palestinian statehood along the 1967 borders with a capital of East Jerusalem was the sought after goal, amid international as well as Arab consensus. (end)
