More than 600 kg of cocaine confiscated in Mexico

The Prosecutor General's Office of Mexico said on Monday that police have confiscated 627 kg of cocaine and apprehended the driver of the truck moving the drugs in the southern Chiapas state, close to thw border with Guatemala,

The office said that the federal police confiscated the narcotics at a checkpoint in Huixtla city, around 80 km from the Chiapas-Guatemala border.

Officers discovered 627 one-kg packages of cocaine when searching the truck, which was purportedly holding recycled plastics, according to a statement by the office.

Mexican official have confiscated over 20 tons of cocaine from January to mid-September, in comparison with 13.7 tons in the earlier year.
