Pakistan- Hindu community arranges event at Peshawar temple to mark Independence Day


(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) PESHAWAR: Like other parts of the country, preparations for Independence Day are also continuing in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with traditional fervour and zeal.

The minorities of Pakistan are also fully participating in the Independence Day celebrations and arranging different events in this regard. The Hindu community arranged a ceremony in connection with Independence Day celebrations at Kali Bhari temple in Peshawar on Wednesday night. The ceremony was arranged by Member of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly from KP Assembly from minority community Ravi Kumar and officials of the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB).

The Hindu community also arranged function in connection with birth anniversary of Lord Krishna. During the ceremony, special prayers were held by the Hindu community members for solidarity and prosperity of Pakistan.

On the occasion, a cake was also cut to market the Independence Day celebrations of Pakistan. Ravi Kumar while speaking on the occasion announced repair work in the temple. He also praised the ETPB Chairman Dr Aamir Ahmed for making best arrangements for Independence Day celebrations at the Hindu temple.

Ashfaq Ahmed, caretaker of gurdwara and Kali Bhari temple, said the directions of the ETPB chairman and other officials are fully implemented for providing facilities at the worship places of minority communities. He said the ETPB makes all out efforts to provide maximum facilities to minority community. He said the function at Kali Bhari temple was also arranged with the cooperation of ETPB.

Meanwhile, standard operating procedures have been introduced for Independence Day events.

SOPs for Independence Day events
  • Everyone should wear face masks
  • Hand sanitisers at entry and exit points
  • Thermal scanning of all participants attending the event
  • All surfaces must be frequently cleaned and sanitised with disinfectant
  • Bathrooms should be frequently cleaned and sanitised
  • Shared equipment (mic, speakers) must be disinfected after they are used each time
  • Ensure proper ventilation and keep the events outdoors
  • Use disposable gloves when handling and disposing of trash. Discard in a marked trash can. Do not disinfect or reuse gloves
  • Limit attendance or seating capacity for social distancing
  • Prevent people from crowding in waiting areas
  • Encourage people to stay at least six feet apart through signs or tape/ chalk marks
  • Flag-hoisting ceremonies should be restricted to government officials in their designated areas. Participation of community members, old people, students and children is not encouraged
  • The rope of the flag should be sanitised
  • Officials hoisting the flag should wear gloves and immediately discard them after hoisting
