40 more people test positive for COVID-19 in Libya


(MENAFN) The combined tally of patients who have tested positive for the novel coronavirus in Libya has amounted to 802 as 40 more cases were detected over the past 24-hour period as of Tuesday, the country"s National Center for Control announced, adding that the number of patients who have survived their deadly infections reached 206, with 23 others, on the other hand, have died.

According to the most recent data compiled by the center on Tuesday morning, the recent confirmed cases were the only who tested positive for the virus among a total of 704 samples conducted in the previous day.


Libyan officials issued orders to close the country's boundaries, suspend schools and mosques, ban public gatherings, and impose a curfew as part of preventive measures to halt the pandemic of the COVID-19 throughout the nation.

On Friday, the UN-backed government extended the curfew for 10 additional days starting from Saturday, which begins from 8 p.m. (1800 GMT) to 6 a.m. (0400 GMT) of the next day.
