WHAT ARE INSERTION GAS FLOW METERS AND ITS APPLICATIONS

(MENAFN- Market Press Release) WHAT ARE INSERTION GAS FLOW METERS?
Insertion gas flow meters are also called by some other names such as thermal flow meters, thermal dispersion, immersible flow meters. These immersible flow meters consist of a collection of instruments that are used for measuring the complete mass rate of the fluid. Along with the fluids, these instruments are also used for measuring the primary gases which flow through closed channels. Moreover, one more sort of thermal flow meter has been defined which is known as a capillary tube. Various flow meters come with electronics, valves, and flow meters that are dependent on the capillary tube design. Here is an interesting fact, by measuring the temperature differential a thermal flow meter can be constructed. The differential has to be calculated across a MEMS chip which is silicon-based.
Both the type of insertion gas flow meters measures the rate of fluid mass by the means of heat convected. The heat is transported from the heated surface to the fluid. Talking about the immersible flow meters or thermal dispersion, which is basically a sort of flow meter, here the heat is followed to the boundary layers. These boundary layers are of the fluid which flows on the heated surface. Coming to the capillary tubes, the heat is followed to the fluid bulk of that fluid which flows over the heated capillary tubes. Both types of insertion gas flow meters follow the principles which are thermal in nature. But also the principles of both the types are this much different such that both of them require two different standards.
Though, both the types share the same principle to an extent, but their industrial applications are completely different. The thermal flow meters are generally used in the applications of general gas flow, such as in ducts and pipes. On the other hand, capillary tubes are generally used in tiny flows of liquids in the tubes or in clean gases. This is the most commonly used type which is used in thermal flow meters.
INDUSTRIAL APPLICATIONS
Moving to the industrial applications of the insertion gas flow meters, it has been said that thermal flow meters are quite popular in the market. The reason for their popularity is the way they are manufactured and designed. They have a feature known as no moving parts which do not obstruct through the straight path of the flow. This feature requires no pressure as well as temperature corrections and also retains accuracy over a range of the flow rates. With the help of dual-plate flow conditioning elements, the runs of straight pipes could be reduced. Along with this, with the use of dual-plate flow conditioned elements, the installation becomes very simple because of the small pipe intrusions.
Moreover, thermal properties in many of its applications could be dependent on the fluid composition. In these applications, the composition of the fluid which has a varying nature during an actual operation might affect the thermal applications.
