Qatar- Certified Internal Auditor examinations go online
(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Institute of Internal Auditors Qatar chapter will be commencing a series of virtual educational sessions in view of the current situation, IIA said.
Institute of Internal Auditors exams usually administered only in person at on-site locations around the world will do online testing temporarily. The Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) exam and the Certification in Risk Management Assurance (CRMA), will be available online soon.
Further, the IIA is offering a 20% discount on new application and registration fees to its members. The IIA offers Exam Prep Resources and tools to pass, and that includes the CIA Learning System, CIA Exam Practice Questions and CRMA Study Guide and Exam Practice Questions.
The IIA's Certification Online Proctoring partnering with Pearson VUE to implement an interim solution for three months will begin soon to enable candidates to take the exams from home while being monitored by an offsite proctor through webcam.
Proctoring involves a check-in process that will require photos of the work area, books, notepads, sticky notes, papers, etc not within arms reach, and any additional computers must be turned off.
If the exam place does not pass the room scan, the candidate will not be permitted to proceed with taking the exam. All communication with the proctor will be in English and likely to offer other languages in a phased approach.
Sundaresan Rajeswar, Board member, IIA Qatar, said, 'The CIA certification has been awarded to 160,000 individuals from 170 countries since 1974. To become a Certified Internal Auditor, candidates need to meet educational and experience requirements and pass all three parts of the exam.
'As the only globally recognised internal audit certification, becoming a CIA is the optimum way to communicate knowledge, skills, and competencies to effectively carry out professional responsibilities for any internal audit, anywhere in the world.
Internal Auditors are responding with flexibility and creativity to the challenges they face due to ensuring global pandemic. Companies are scrambling to understand what their new risks are to amend business processes to keep those risks at acceptable levels. Internal audit has a vital role to play to perform critical assessments of emerging risks, use data analytics to build monitoring tools, and counsel management on possible changes to business processes.
'Internal Auditors invariably have that knowledge and skill sets to adapt quickly to look across different functions and areas within a company to assess risks and identify potential opportunities. The ability to plan, even under today's enormously difficult circumstances, is what keeps an organisation alive. There are many non-audit activities that internal auditors are capable of contributing that provide insights for decision making, Rajeswar added.
'The IIA Qatar chapter will be commencing series of virtual educational sessions, and the first session is on managing technology risks in these challenging times. Remote working is the order of the day and will very soon revolutionise the way work is done. As internal auditors, it is very crucial to understand this new norm and manage these technology risks starting from complicated cyberattacks to access privilege mismanagement, Adel al-Hashmi, new President of IIA chapter said.
