Jordan- Adaileh announces measures to tackle COVID-19 pandemic


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, Mar. 31 (Petra) -- Minister of State for Media Affairs, Amjad Adaileh, Tuesday, announced new measures taken by the government to address the coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic, the most important of which is the closure of shops previously authorized to open, and imposing a 24-hour curfew on Friday.
The new measures will come into force on Friday at 12:00 am and will last for 24 hours, and only medical staff will be excluded from the decision, as well as those who are authorized, Adaileh explained.
In a press briefing at the National Center for Security and Crisis Management (NCSCM), he noted that as of Saturday morning, things will return to the way they are now, so that shops will be allowed to open, starting from 10:00 am - 6:00 pm.
Adaileh indicated that the government has also taken measures regarding vehicles authorized in the streets, as only one person will be allowed to be in them, as of tomorrow morning, Wednesday, except in urgent cases.
Security and army presence will also be increased in villages and neighborhoods outside the cities, to ensure that everyone is observing the curfew and to prevent gatherings, as of Thursday, April 2.
All paper permits will be cancelled as of Thursday, April 2 at 6:00 pm, he said, adding that they will be replaced with electronic ones, based on the mechanism that was announced previously.
He also announced the activation of a 24-hour hotline (193) to report cases of infection, or suspected cases of COVID-19.
Adaileh highlighted the universality of the COVID-19 epidemic, and its huge impact on the global health and social system, indicating that it is the hot topic around the world.
He said: "We can be proud of His Majesty King Abdullah II's great effort, with the aim of uniting global efforts in facing this epidemic."
