(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, Mar. 29 (Petra) -- Minister of State for media Affairs, Amjad Adaileh, Sunday, announced that the Prime Minister decided to extend the work suspension of ministries, official departments, institutions and public bodies for two more weeks, as of Wednesday, April 1 until mid-April.
In a press briefing at the National Center for Security and Crisis Management (NCSCM), Adaileh said that the decision comes as a continuation of a series of precautionary measures through which the government aims to protect the people.
Vital public and private sectors are excluded from the decision, the Minister said, adding that the medical sector will also be excluded.
He pointed out that during the past few days, the government has witnessed "relative commitment" by the people to the instructions of curfew, as this was reflected in the decrease in the number of the violations, adding that vehicles that were impounded today were less than two hundred.
Adaileh pointed out that the Center for Strategic Studies at the University of Jordan published a study today, showing that 83 percent of citizens believe that the COVID-19 is dangerous, stressing that this is an indication of a high level of awareness among the people about the virus's risk, compared to previous days, when some 33 percent of people hadn't taken the disease seriously.
On the social initiatives aimed at supporting families that are most affected by the COVID-19 crisis, Adaileh highlighted the efforts of the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO) that continues to collect donations, as the number of packages that have been distributed so far has reached 2,500.
He emphasized that everyone can still send heir donations to the charitable account of the Ministry of Social Development (MoSD), and the account of the Ministry of Health (MoH), whose details had been previously announced.
