USD279 million donated by EU to Tunisia

The Tunisian Foreign Ministry said on Saturday that the EU, European Union, is going to donate a total of USD279.21 million to Tunisia to aid the nation in its battle against the coronavirus and to cushion the economic negative effects.

A statement released by the ministry said that "In a telephone conversation, EU Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighborhood Oliver Varhelyi informed Tunisian Minister of Foreign Affairs Noureddine Erray that EU had decided to grant 250 million euros to Tunisia".

It added that the donation is a part of "the distinguished partnership and solidarity relations that unite Tunisia with the EU".

The European Union is going to increase its financial support to Tunisia at triple throught the "My Health" project, with the funds rising from USD20 million to USD60 million.

The European Union is going to finance the project that aims to develop the health services in Tunisia.
