Arab nation requires cooperation in security fields -- Kuwaiti MoI

TUNIS, March 1 (KUNA) -- The Arab nation faces security challenges and threats imposed by regional and global conditions that require more cooperation in various security and technical fields, said Kuwait's Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anas Al-Saleh Sunday.
Kuwait is looking to intensify cooperation and exchange information, experiences between security services in a way that contributes to achieving security and development for our countries, Al-Saleh added in a speech during the work of the 37th session of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers hosted by Tunisia.
"The security of the Arab nation as an integral whole and extending security throughout our homelands is a shared responsibility that we all bear, we take this opportunity to consult and discuss in order to reach desired decisions that serve Arab security and achieve stability for our peoples in light of conditions critical regional," he said.
Al-Saleh pointed out that cyberspace in the modern era, despite its positives, but it is fertile ground for terrorist groups in the field of recruiting new elements from various countries, and this requires efforts to combat cybercrime and transnational organized crime and intensify joint efforts in this regard.
Minister Al-Saleh thanked the Tunisian leadership, government and people for the hospitality and generosity and for embracing the work of the 37th session of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers.
In statements to KUNA on the sidelines of the session, Al-Saleh expressed hope that the results of the gathering would help address the security challenges in the Arab region and serve the interests of Arab citizens.
"The meeting provides a chance to the security services of the Arab countries to share knowledge and experience in addressing such challenges as the combat against terrorism and extremism," he pointed out.
"The State of Kuwait has always been keen on security cooperation with the sisterly Arab countries and sharing experience in modernization of the security services.
"The Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior attaches great importance to the leveraging of the e-government system and digitalization with a view to serving the citizens and combating all forms of corruption," the minister added.
He noted that he is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with the interior ministers of several Arab countries during his stay in Tunis.
Earlier today, the 37th session of the Arab Interior Ministers' Council, kicked off to discuss several regional and global security topics. (end) nmo.aa
