Doha to host Arab Gulf Cup from November 27

(MENAFN- The Peninsula) QNADoha:  The extraordinary general assembly of the Arab Gulf Cup Football Federation, chaired by Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani, President of Qatar Football Association (QFA), has announced that the 24th edition of the competition will take place in Doha from November 27 to December 9.

The meeting discussed a number of important topics, particularly the selection of judicial committees from the names nominated by the member associations, and the discussion of the proposed amendments to the competition regulations. It was attended by representatives from the associations in Oman, Kuwait, Iraq, Yemen and Qatar.

Following the conclusion of the meeting, Secretary-General of the federation Jassim Al Rumaihi will take place in Doha during the set time, even if the number of teams declines more than the current level. He stressed however that the door is open for Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Bahrain to take part in the competition as long as they do that before the draw next October.

The Gulf Cup is held every two years between Arab Gulf countries. The first edition took place in 1970 and was won by the Kingdom of Bahrain.
