Extremist stabbed policeman in Tunisia


(MENAFN) The spokesman of the country's Interior Ministry Khaled Hayouni said on Sunday that, a member of a religious extremist group stabbed a policeman in Tozeur region in southwestern Tunisia.


The incident occurred in front of the central headquarters of Tozeur governorate as quoted by the private channel Nessma TV, Hayouni.


He also said that, the policeman was on duty when a stranger attacked him at the chest with a knife, the injured was transformed to hospital for treatment.


The spokesman said that, preliminary information available on the perpetrator indicated that he is an individual with a takfirist (radical) religious tendency and known to the security services, he also said that the security forces in the region of Tozeur managed to catch the attacker.
