Bled, Slovenia, Sept. 1 (Petra) – Slovenian President Natasa Pirc Musar received Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs Ayman Safadi on Monday.
Safadi also met with Slovenian Prime Minister Robert Golob and participated in the 20th Bled Strategic Forum.
Safadi conveyed His Majesty King Abdullah II's greetings to the Slovenian leadership and expressed the King's appreciation for Slovenia's support for the Palestinian people's right to freedom and statehood based on the two-state solution, its calls to halt the war on Gaza, and the immediate and sufficient delivery of humanitarian aid across the Strip.
President Pirc Musar and Prime Minister Golob affirmed their commitment to deepening cooperation with Jordan and praised His Majesty the King's leading role in promoting security, stability, and peace in the region.
The meetings addressed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation and discussed regional developments, particularly efforts to reach a permanent ceasefire in Gaza to end the aggression, famine, and humanitarian crisis.
Safadi is scheduled to hold further talks on Tuesday with Slovenian Foreign Minister Tanja Fajon to expand cooperation between the two countries, advance a lasting Gaza ceasefire, and review regional developments.
During meetings with several counterparts at the forum, Safadi stressed the need for immediate international action to halt Israeli aggression against Gaza and end the resulting humanitarian catastrophe.
He warned that Israel will continue its unlawful attacks in Gaza, actions in the occupied West Bank, and assaults on Lebanon and Syria unless the international community enforces a unified response under international law to hold Israel accountable.
Safadi also highlighted the ongoing failure of the international community to implement measures required by international and humanitarian law, including Israel's use of starvation as a weapon, which has led to famine in Gaza.
He urged countries supporting the two-state solution to translate their positions into practical recognition of the State of Palestine, noting the significance of the upcoming two-state solution conference, co-hosted by Saudi Arabia and France during the UN General Assembly, where several nations plan to recognize the Palestinian state.
In addition, Safadi discussed with his counterparts, including Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty, joint positions on confronting Israeli aggression, preventing the displacement of the Palestinian people, developments in Syria and Lebanon, and regional stability.
The talks also covered strengthening cooperation in key areas such as trade, tourism, investment, and defense.
On the sidelines of the forum, Safadi met with Montenegro's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ervin Ibrahimovi?, Latvian Foreign Minister Baiba Bra?e, North Macedonia's Foreign and Trade Minister Tim?o Mucunski, Albanian Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Egli Hasani, Vatican Foreign Minister Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, Croatian Foreign and European Affairs Minister Gordan Grli?-Radman, European Commission Vice President and High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaya Kalas, and European Commissioner for Equality, Preparedness, and Crisis Management Hadja Lahbib.
Safadi will participate on Tuesday in a seminar titled "Revitalizing Leadership and Multilateralism in an Era of Conflict and Fragmentation," alongside Slovenian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Tanja Fajon, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty, Slovak Foreign and European Affairs Minister Juraj Blan?r, and Vatican Foreign Minister Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher.
