(MENAFN- Colombo Gazette) United National Party Deputy Leader (UNP) Sajith Premadasa today said that he hopes to contest the next Presidential elections with the support of UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe and Speaker Karu Jayasuriya.
Sajith Premadasa said this while speaking at a rally staged in Kurunegala this evening.
The UNP has yet to decide on its Presidential candidate and both Wickremesinghe and Speaker Karu Jayasuriya are among the contenders apart from Premadasa.
Several UNP MPs attended the rally in Kurunegala today and extended support to Premadasa's bid to be the Presidential candidate of the United National Front at the next elections.
Speaking further Premadasa insisted that his hands were clean and that he was not involved in corruption or any criminal activity.
He said that false allegations are being made against him yet he was not shaken.
Premadasa said that the more allegations are made against him the more determined he becomes to do more for the people. (Colombo Gazette)
