S.Korean ICT export declines

A South Korean government report showed on Wednesday that the information and communications technology products of South Korea continued to decrease for the 9th month in a row as the demand on main export items kept falling.

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy said that the export of ICT fell 21.8 percent since the past year to USD14.51 billion in July, keeping to decrease since past November.

The ICT import made up USD9.74 billion, sending the trade surplus to USD4.77 billion.

The export of semiconductors fell 27.7 percent to USD7.57 in July on the continuous downturn in the international chip industry busness, whoch resulted in decrease memory chips prices and a weak demand.
