Chinese president cheers new EU head
(MENAFN) Chinese President Xi Jinping congratulated Charles Michel on his election as president of the European Council, Xi pointed out in his congratulatory message that the development of the current relations of China and the European Union (EU) is on a good momentum.
Both sides have frequent contacts on various levels and their systematic cooperation has leaded to successful results. The two sides have mutual interests including the people-to-people and cultural exchanges, and coordination between the two sides in dealing with global affairs is effective.
Xi announced that the common interest of both sides isn't only about the long-term stable progress of the China-EU relationship, but it will also contribute to world peace and prosperity because China supports Europe in playing a more important role in global affairs.
In addition to this, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang also congratulated Michel and he affirmed in his congratulatory message that China wants to join hands with the EU to take advantage of the important chance for the development of current China-EU relations and to push forward the China-EU comprehensive strategic partnership to a higher level.
