Afghanistan- Uzbekistan Pledges $45m for Afghan Power Transmission Project


(MENAFN- Daily Outlook Afghanistan) Uzbek Prime Minister says they areready to boost trade ties between Afghanistan and Uzbekistan.
KABUL - The Prime Minister ofUzbekistan Abdulla Aripov in a meeting with Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullahin the northern province of Balkh on Monday vowed to provide $45 million for apower transmission project in Afghanistan.
The two sides discussed issues ofmutual interests as well as economic relations between the two countries, theChief Executive's Office said in a statement on Monday.
In a meeting with the Uzbek PrimeMinister and his delegation in the city of Mazar-e-Sharif, Abdullah said thattime has come to implement the agreements which have been signed between thetwo countries.
He said trade volume between thetwo countries is good but added that it has the potential to improve.
'The Afghan government willcontinue its efforts to balance trade activities between the two countries. Weare committed to creating more opportunity for Uzbek investors and we hope thatsuch an opportunity is provided for Afghan investors in Uzbekistan, he added.
Meanwhile, the Uzbek Prime Ministerextended his condolences to the people of Afghanistan over the terrorist attackin Kabul and said that the people and government of Uzbekistan are standingwith Afghans.
He said they will leave no stoneunturned to make efforts for a peaceful Afghanistan.
'We want to strengthen therelations between the two countries. Our attempt to hold an exhibition andattract the attention of Afghan investors is based on this goal, he said.
Aripov vowed that his country isready to closely cooperate with Afghanistan in different sectors, includingagriculture, trade, electricity, and railway.
'Uzbekistan will contribute $45million to the power transmission line from Sarkhan in Uzbekistan toPul-e-Khumri [in Baghlan] which is almost 200 kilometers in length and willcost $110 million, he said. (Tolo news)
