GAM mayor to launch Amman


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, June 22 (Petra) - Mayor of Greater Amman Municipality (GAM), Yousef Shawarbeh, announced the launch and operation of "Amman's Bus" project on Sunday, June 30th.
As the project's first phase, the 135 transport bus fleet will operate and cover 55 destinations across 23 routes, at a cost of JD18 million to cover 11 areas out of a total of 22 in the capital.
At a press conference held on Saturday, Shawarbeh said "Amman's Bus" has integrated state-of-the -art technology, where epayment is offered, using prepaid rechargeable cards.
According to the expansion plans, new buses will be added and equipped through international tenders to secure operating 150 new buses by the end of 2020 with a maximum of 34 new tracks.
The "Amman Bus" will be regular and will cover the main areas of the capital Amman (downtown, east and north of Amman currently) and will operate at a rate of 16 hours daily from 6 am to 10 pm, and partially operating during holidays.
