DUBAI, June 17 (KUNA) -- Laboratory accreditation as per the globally accepted standard is crucial to give local products much needed exposure, said an official on Monday.

As he signed a deal with Emirates International Accreditation Centre (EIAC), the director general of Kuwait's Public Authority for Industry (PAI) Abdulkarim Taki told KUNA the initiative is part of efforts to bestow global accreditation upon Kuwaiti labs, paving the way for Kuwaiti products to enter foreign markets.

On the deal with the Emirati center, he said PAI stands to gain from the UAE's "industry expertise," highlighting the need to have an accredited center in Kuwait to help create a "foreign market entry strategy" for Kuwaiti products.

Heaping praise on the deal with EIAC, Kuwait's Consul General in Dubai Theyab Al-Rashidi said the endeavor encapsulates the vibrant economic relationship shared between the two Gulf states.

The deal is only the latest in a spate of future joint projects between both sides, the Kuwaiti diplomat explained. (end) smr.nam
