Iranian, Russian FMs discuss crisis in Syria over phone


(MENAFN) Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov conferred over the phone the Syrian conflict, according to a news report.

The Russian Foreign Ministry stated that both sides exchanged opinions on some urgent regional and international developments, including reaching a solution to the conflict in Syria in the context of arrangements for the 12th international high-level meeting on the war-torn country, which is part of the Astana process.

Kazakhstan will host the new round of Syria discussions on April 25-26 in its capital, lately renamed from Astana to Nur-Sultan.

In other news, Syria's Transport Minister proclaimed on Monday that Damascus approved Qatar Airways' request to fly through Syrian airspace.
