Marvel's 'Loki' series on Disney+ gets 'Rick and Morty' writer
17 Feb 2019

Disney is looking to enter the competition among streamers by introducing its own platform Disney+.

Part of their strategy is to bring all Marvel content under one umbrella and release several shows that explore the back stories of Marvel characters.

One of the first shows coming to the platform is Loki, and the series has just landed its point person.

Read about it here.

'Loki' finds its point person in Michael Waldron
Fact

Michael Waldron, who is best known for his work on the acclaimed Cartoon Network series, Rick and Morty, has come on board for the upcoming Loki series. Waldron will serve as the show creator and executive producer of the series while also scripting the pilot.

Tom Hiddleston to reprise role as Loki in upcoming show
Show details

Tom Hiddleston, who first appeared as Loki in the 2011 Thor movie, is expected to reprise his role as the God of Mischief.

The show is supposed to focus on the shapeshifter and trickster Loki as he turns up to influence historical events in human history.

While Avengers: Infinity War showed Loki dying, the show is expected to find a way around his death.

Loki's lifespan gives the show unlimited opportunities
Opinion

Thanks to Loki's lifespan that makes him age very slowly, almost making him immortal, the show holds great promise.

Considering the plot will show the trickster pop up in different time periods, it will give Waldron the creative freedom to tell his own stories without worrying about continuation in MCU since the films have barely explored earth's history prior to World War II.

Disney+ has other Marvel shows lined up
Other shows

Apart from Loki, Disney+ has a host of other Marvel shows lined up, as we reported.

These include a show titled The Vision and Scarlet Witch while another will focus on the sidekicks of Captain America, Falcon, and Sebastian Stan, or the Winter Soldier.

Notably, Malcolm Spellman, best known for his work in Empire, has already been hired to work on the latter project.
