There were 116 clinically serious infections requiring intensive care, said the SZU.

In the past week, total morbidity by acute respiratory infections stood at the level of 1,757 patients per 100,000 population, which represents an increase of 2.5 percent compared to the previous week.

The rise is registered especially in adults in the age group 25 to 59 years, said the SZU, recommending people to avoid crowded places and observe basic hygiene rules, such as washing hands after using public transport.

Those who have been already ill should stay in home, it added.
