(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) (WITH MIL-MIDEAST-KILLING-PROTESTS) RAMALLAH, Feb 8 (KUNA) -- At least five Palestinian people were injured by the Israeli army's forces which broke into the city of Ramallah Friday evening.
Palestine Red Crescent Society's ambulance teams rushed to the site and dealt with the wounded, the society said in a press statement.
It added that two cases were wounded by rubber bullets, one by live bullets and two others by tear gas.
A special force of the Israeli army broke into Jamal Abdulnasser Mosque in Central Ramallah and has attacked one of its employer identified as Hamza Ghannam.
According to eyewitnesses, the army entered the place forcibly to provide protection to the special force. Clashes erupted between the army, using live and rubber bullets, and some young Palestinians, they made clear.
Meanwhile, Palestine's minister of Awqaf and religious affairs Yousef Idrees condemned the attack on the mosque.
This "cowardly" assault on a religious and place of worship with no regard to its sanctity, and its religious and moral values is part of a series of attacks targeting Islamic and Christian sanctuaries, mainly Al-Aqsa Mosque that occur on a daily basis, he said in a press release.
Earlier in the day, the Israeli army also killed two Palestinians and wounded 17 others during protests staged at Gaza border, Palestinian Health Ministry said on Friday.
Palestinian people have been staging protests along the besieged Gaza Strip since March 30 calling for returning to their homeland and breaking the siege imploded on the Strip. (end) nq.hm
