Oman- Over 700 workers held for labour law violations


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- The Ministry of Manpower (MoM) has arrested 734 and deported 353 workers for labour law violations in different parts of the sultanate. The arrests were made between January 20 and January 26. The arrested include commercial workers (573), agricultural workers (43) and domestic workers (118). Investigations by the inspection teams also showed that 159 of the total number of violators were absconding workers and 531 workers did not have the required legal documents.

The Governorate of Dakhliyah had the highest number of violations (410) followed by Muscat (163). Legal action has been initiated against the arrested. Meanwhile, MoM also registered deportation of 353 workers during the same period for violating provisions of the labour law and the ministerial decisions implementing the law.
