Two Kuwaiti societies vow legal action against wildlife reserve breaches

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT, Jan 16 (KUNA) -- The Environment Public Authority and Kuwait Voluntary Work Center on Wednesday warned they would be taking legal action against those found in violation of an environment protection law, particularly in regards to natural sanctuaries.

The two societies issued the word of caution after unidentified individuals were found to have been behind damage caused to the fungal and vegetation habitat at Sabah Al-Ahmad Nature Reserve.

Nationals and residents alike were urged not to approach the nature reserve, located in Al-Sabbiya north of the Kuwait Bay, in order to avoid facing legal action.

The 330 sq/km wildlife reserve "represents a strategic pool of plant and animal organisms and reinforces biodiversity in the nation," read a statement. (end) zak.sd
