A case against a police officer caught on tape beating a woman in Banadir, Somalia has turned on its head.
The video, which has since gone viral on social media shows the officer identified as Yusuf Xundubeey flogging Hamdi Ali, an incident which drew public anger. Yusuf has since been detained by the CID over the incident.
But Hamdi has since recorded another video and posted on Facebook, calling for the release of Yusuf, her ex-husband, arguing that it was a family issue and that they had buried the hatchet.
'I have forgiven my husband. This was a private family issue which has been resolved. I am now demanding for his release and let nobody politicize the matter', said Ms Hamdi.
The video had been shared widely on social media, provoking g public anger, prompting the arrest of Yusuf by the Ministry of Security.
