Netanyahu selects official to build ties with S. Arabia


(MENAFN) On Sunday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu selected Mossad head Yossi Cohen to work to create diplomatic relations between Israel and Saudi Arabia, local media reported.

According to Israeli TV Hadashot, the Israeli government began a political procedure to stabilize bilateral relations between Tel Aviv and Riyadh in the run-up to the general polls fixed for November 2019.

Local media reported that the U.S. was also involved into the procedure.

A high-level Israeli government official, talking on condition of secrecy, emphasized that in light of the increasing tension with Iran, Tel Aviv made relations with several Arab states, including Saudi Arabia.
