(MENAFN)Prosecutors declared that an assailant screaming "Allahu akbar" has knifed a Belgian police officer many times in the neck in central Brussels.
They added that the attacker, armed with two kitchen blades during the attack outside the city's main police station on Tuesday, was then gunned and injured by two police officers.
The man has been nabbed and remains in serious state in hospital.
The city prosecutors confirmed: "We have not yet establish the subject's motives," as "Several witnesses heard him shout 'Allahu akbar' (God is greatest). The investigation will establish whether this is a terrorist act."
