Until recently, patients with metastatic vertebral-body (spine) tumors had a limited choice for controlling tumor and back pain palliation.

The microwave energy ablation of vertebral-body tumors provides the doctors with additional capability for controlling and relieving pain when used in conjunction with cementoplasty (bone cement filling.) Microwave energy application is controlled with direct temperature feedback from the ablation antenna during the procedure to ensure safety and efficacy.

AveCure® microwave ablation system is successfully used to treat and relieve pain from metastatic vertebral-body tumors and bone cement is used to fill the remaining cavity to restore the mechanical structure. The procedure is minimally invasive.
