Merkel: We want good ties with UK
(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BRUSSELS, Oct 17 (KUNA) - German Chancellor Angela Merkel said Wednesday that ninety percent of the Brexit agreement has been completed and that the EU wants good relations with the UK after Brexit.
Speaking to reporters ahead of an EU summit in Brussels this evening, she said "our main point will be the United Kingdom. We will listen to the report by Theresa May and then will discuss among us based on the report by (EU chief Brexit negotiator) Michel Barnier." "I have already told the German Parliament today that we want good relations with the UK, it would be good if an exit agreement had been finalised, we are at 90 percent," she said.
Merkel added that she is going to the meeting "with the spirit of trying everything so that both sides can meet each other, this would be better for everyone." (end) nk.ibi
